This is a frangipani flower in the palm of wooden Buddha in Thailand. I saw this picture last year when I was waiting at the ferry terminal in Sechelt. It reminded me of the flowers I saw in Bali. aAnd yes you can see them quite a lot in Hawaii, Malaysia and Australia. They were in my wedding bouquet as well. I thought it would be perfect for a nursery. And yes, I bought it for my adopted child because that was the same weekend I started my blog. I had stopped waiting for BFPs and just relax miracle pregnancies. I just wanted something to look forward to and be excited about. This was before the home study, the subsequent fallout, all my "processing", blah di blah.
A frangipani symbol means "Shelter". It's meaning is that "I will protect you from anything evil." That's a good sentiment. don't you think?

love it -- the symbolism, the image, the meaning. thanks for sharing.
One of the things I most loved about Bali was the little offerings made to the gods everyday, usually left on the footpath outside a home or business. Almost all of them included a frangipani. It's too cold in my part of Australia to grow them but they are one plant I would love to have in the garden.
I didn't know about them meaning 'Shelter" but I think that's lovely to know.
Here from Show and Tell and NCLM.
Absolutely beautiful. I remember the frangipani trees blossoming when I was in Australia a few years ago and it was just so stunning for a prairie girl - all that amazing abundant beauty.I didn't know that they symbolize shelter, but it is a lovely thing for a nursery, especially in the hand of the Buddha - shelter within shelter. So beautiful - thanks for sharing this.
Beautiful show and tell this week.
I love Frangipanis! I love walking along street and picking up the fallen flowers smelling them and sticking one behind my ear. :)
What a lovely S&T. I fell in love with that flower in HI. I did the same thing as Vee every time I found one on the ground.
Yes, a very good sentiment.
I love the flower, but I love the meaning behind it more and what you did with it. Very very cool.
And happy bd in advance:-)
